  1. Princess Peach has been kidnapped! Again! Everyone was celebrating the Princess' birthday when a giant birthday cake arrived... but then Bowser Jr. and the seven Koopalings popped out and kidnapped her! Mario, Luigi and two Toads make chase to rescue her once more. Will they succeed?

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a continuation of the Super Mario Bros. games. As with the original, players jump, dash and grab power ups such as the Super Mushroom and the the Fire Flower, which lets them throw fireballs at their foes. New powerups have been added too - the Propeller Hat allows players to zoom vertically up in the air, and then glide back down, the Ice Flower lets players freeze enemies into icy blocks, and the Penguin Suit gives them traction on ice as well as allowing them to belly slide. Yoshi, from Super Mario World makes a return, as well - players can ride him and he'll eat enemies and berries in levels.

  3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a 2008 crossover fighting video game developed by Sora Ltd. and published by Nintendo for the Wii. The third installment in the Super Smash Bros. series, it was announced at a pre-E3 2005 press conference by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. Masahiro Sakurai, director of the previous two games in the series, assumed the role of director at Iwata's request. Game development began in October 2005 with a creative team that included members from several Nintendo and third-party development teams. After delays due to development problems, the game was released worldwide in 2008.

The number of playable characters in Brawl has grown from that in Super Smash Bros. Melee, although some characters from Melee were cut in Brawl. Brawl is the first game in the series to have playable third-party characters. Like that of its predecessors, the objective of Brawl is to knock opponents off the screen. It is a departure from traditional fighting games, notably in its simplified move commands and emphasis on ring outs over knockouts. It includes a more extensive single-player mode than its predecessors, known as the Subspace Emissary. This mode is a plot-driven, side-scrolling beat 'em up featuring computer-generated cut scenes. Brawl supports multiplayer battles with up to four combatants, and is the first game of its franchise to feature online battles via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The game is unique in that it can be played with four different controllers, including the Wii Remote, Wii Remote with Nunchuk, GameCube controller, and Classic Controller, simultaneously.

  4. Link is a young boy who lives with his grandmother on the Outset Island, one of the many small islands lost amidst the waters of the Great Sea. On his tenth birthday, Link encounters a giant bird carrying a girl. Link rescues the girl, but as a result his own sister is taken away by the bird. The unknown girl is a pirate captain named Tetra, who agrees to help Link find and rescue his sister. During the course of their journey the two realize that a powerful, legendary evil is active again, and must find a way to stop him.

The Wind Waker is the tenth installment in the Zelda series. Like its predecessors, it is an action game with puzzle-solving and light role-playing elements. Basic gameplay mechanics are similar to those found in Ocarina of Time: Link explored 3D outdoor areas and dungeons, fighting enemies and occasionally solving environmental puzzles. An addition to the combat system is the ability to parry at specific times, which is needed to overcome armored foes. Another new feature is picking up and using some of the weapons wielded by the enemies. Similarly to previous games, Link can use tools such as bow and arrow, boomerang, and bombs.

Link needs to sail through the Great Sea in order to travel to other islands. He uses a baton called the Wind Waker to change wind direction by conducting it and producing melodies. The Wind Waker is also used for teleportation and puzzle-solving purposes. Link can use wind currents to glide and access remote areas.

Visually, the game utilizes cel-shaded graphics to create a cartoon-like appearance. The characters' bodily proportions and facial features are not realistic, complementing the style. Link's big eyes, in particular, also have a gameplay-related function, giving clues to the player by looking at specific items needed to solve puzzles.

    Drakengard 3

In earlier times, the world was ravaged by endless war and conflict. The fighting only ceased when five sisters with godlike powers used their song magic to defeat the warlords and bring peace throughout the lands. These Intoners now rule over various parts of the world, where they are adored and worshipped by their subjects. However, there is a sixth and eldest sister, Zero, who wishes to kill her siblings and take their power for herself. One year after failing to defeat the other Intoners, Zero sets out with her dragon Mikhail to kill them one by one.

Taking place about a century prior to the first Drakengard, this game puts the player in the role of Zero, who can be accompanied by up to two AI characters who join over the course of the story. Gameplay is largely similar to other entries in the series, comprised of hack-and-slash fighting on the ground and aerial combat in which Zero rides Mikhail. Performing combos fills up Zero's Tension Gauge, which she can tap into to unleash her Intoner powers. In Intoner Mode, Zero's speed and attack power increase, and she becomes invulnerable to enemy attacks. Zero can use four different types of weapons: swords, bracers, chakrams, and spears, and each individual weapon can be leveled up the more it is used in combat.

  6. In a complex world filled with excess and greed, players can take the role of Tony Montana, one of the most ruthless gangsters ever depicted on film. Highly acclaimed screenwriter, David McKenna, has written an original event-driven storyline for the interactive game that leads the player through a sordid underworld. The Scarface video game creates a gameplay environment that authentically recreates the historical time period of the film, touching on politics, news items and events of the day. Players travel through the steamy, often violent streets of Miami, the irie islands of the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and various other locales and interact with a world full of seedy and dangerous characters to procure information, negotiate business deals, smuggle contraband and avoid rivals and DEA on a mission to rebuild their fallen empire.

  7. The events of the game take place in the early 1990's. The player takes control of Carl Johnson (C.J.), who had moved to Liberty City in order to distance itself from his past as a member of a gang in his home city, San Andreas. But the past catches up with him in a way he had not imagined: he finds out that his mother was killed by a rival gang. He goes back to San Andreas to attend her funeral. Realizing how corrupted local police is, seeing how his relatives and friends need him, determined to avenge his mother's death, C. J. has no other choice but revert to his old ways.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the fifth game in the GTA series. The basic premise remains the same: roam the "sandbox" environments, hijack cars, and complete missions to advance the story. The game's world is significantly larger than in its two immediate predecessors, encompassing three cities and a vast countryside between them, with smaller towns, mountains, rivers, and other places of interest. The interactivity with the environment is enhanced, since the player character can now swim and dive, being able to access every corner of the game world.

The missions vary in structure and gameplay, including chases, races, longer and more intense third-person shooter sequences, as well as a wide variety of vehicles to navigate, which range from different new types of cars (such as lowriders), bicycles, motorcycles, to boats, helicopters, planes, trains, and exotic devices such as monster trucks and jetpacks. Some of the missions involve recruiting gang members and attacking turfs belonging to rival gangs.

As in the previous games, there are many activities to perform outside of the missions. Working as a taxi driver, taking part in races, delivering sick people to hospital, etc., return from the preceding games in the series. San Andreas adds many new activities of its own, some of them with a role-playing flavor. C.J. can go to gym and work out, increasing his stamina. From time to time he has to eat - though overeating will make him look fatter. He is also able to have romantic relationships with certain female characters, asking them out on a dinner, giving them presents, etc.

    Battle Stadium D.O.N

Son Goku, Naruto, Sasuke, Luffy, Zoro, Trunks, Rock Lee... a cast worthy of the secret fantasies of any otaku! Some people apprehend then a pure fighting game, but Battle Stadium D.O.N is largely inspired by Super Smash Bros. Melee. The two games share many similarities, especially in terms of handling. Thus, the strokes do not require any manipulation based on quarter turns, everything comes out simply with combinations of direction and buttons. But Battle Stadium D.O.N. fortunately does not just copy the neighbor. The principle is even catchy and original enough to guarantee good reversals. Here, all fighters share the same life gauge. The goal of the game is to nibble on the opponents' gauge, by all means, until the final knockout. So there are not really "lives" as such. Moreover, the winner at the end of regulation time is not the one who has ejected the most people, but the one who has the longest energy bar!

  10. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is based on the movie of the same name. The player assumes the role of Harry Potter, who must battle against Lord Voldemort and his followers. The game allows non-linear exploration of the school where Harry can use unlocked portraits to teleport or call a ghost to find the fastest way to missions. The primary objective involves discovering roughly 150 hidden crests to unlock achievements, requiring the use of spells as Harry has lost his ability to jump and climb.

The main focus lies in three mini-games: magical duels used to learn and improve spells, Quidditch as a test of reaction where the player slightly controls Harry's broom, and potion brewing where the player replicates recipes within a time limit while managing errors.

  12. The Bible claims that God created Adam in His image, but this is not true. Before Adam there was the Firstborn, the true image of God: a perfect being, without sex, neither dark nor light, both beautiful and terrifying. Fearing this creation, God banished it to the Abyss and created Adam instead. Yet the Firstborn had already tainted the Earth, slowly weakening reality over the ages.

According to an ancient prophecy, the Firstborn will enter the mortal world seven times, bringing corruption and disease, until seven mystics sacrifice themselves to drive it back. Six incursions have already occurred. The final one begins in the city of Al-Khali, where the Jericho Squad is sent to face it one last time.

Clive Barker’s Jericho is a straightforward first-person shooter in which each squad member has unique weapons and abilities. Players can issue orders, take control of teammates, and rely on a regenerative health system. Despite Clive Barker’s strong influence, the game is not a sequel to Clive Barker’s Undying.

The sequel to Super Smash Bros. keeps the same basic premise: Characters duke it out in interactive environments, using special attacks and various items to knock each other into the abyss. Some new defensive techniques add an even deeper level of complexity to the combat. In addition to traditional battle royale matches, players can select all-new ways to play like Coin mode and Tournament mode.

  18. The sequel to 2005's Path of Radiance and the tenth game in the Fire Emblem series, Radiant Dawn takes place three years after the defeat of the Daein kingdom by Crimea.

Unlike other Wii games, the main method of control is either through the classic controller or GameCube controller, since the action is wholly turn-based tactical combat, largely the same as the previous nine games. The game consists of 44 chapters and uses the same engine as Path of Radiance. There are three new weapon and magic types: Knife, Dark Magic and Strike.

The player must lead a band of heroes against the Begnion Empire's oppression of the defeated Daein, along with help from many of the heroes from Path of Radiance. The members of the Dawn group are the main heroes of the game, with a major role for Sothe, who was a child thief from the previous Fire Emblem game.

  24. Loosely based on historical events that took place in England in the 15th century, known as the Wars of the Roses (a battle for power between the houses of Lancaster and York), Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses sees the heroes of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and card game series, Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba, assume the identity of the head of the Lancaster house (Red Rose, later the Tudor dynasty), Henry Tudor, and the leader of the Yorkist faction (White Rose), Christian Rosenkreuz, respectively. The player controls a Rose Duelist, who is initially sent by Henry Tudor (Yugi) and the Lancastrians to Stonehenge, with the mission of disrupting a barrier imposed by the White Rose forces. However, Rosenkreuz (Seto) arrives and offers the hero to side with the Yorkists. From that point on, the player can choose to follow either the Red or the White Rose, in two different scenarios.

Like most other Yu-Gi-Oh! video game adaptations, this is a strategy card game. The duels of the game take place on a 7x7 table; each player commands a "Deck Leader", who acts as the representation of the player character's hit point, as well as the central square on the map around which cards can be placed. Monsters can be navigated freely on the board, with the goal of surrounding and defeating the opponent's Deck Leader. Various field bonuses and card fusions are also present.

    Crash of the Titans

This version is different from its DS and GBA versions. The story has Crash's arch-nemeses, Neo and Nina Cortex, creating a device that turns the creatures on Crash's island into monsters, threatening to bring an end to existence on the peaceful island. Crash must stop them by "hijacking" these monsters and wield their power against the Cortex's.

The gameplay has the player explore levels, picking up power-ups to use against enemies as well as for the first time, use fighting combos such as punches and kicks against enemies. Players can also "hijack" 15 different enemy monsters to use against the others, each with their own special abilities and powers like fire breathing and earthquakes. Players can also interact with their world, climbing trees and swinging from ropes and even surf and skate throughout the levels. There is also co-op abilities where a friend can pop into the game at any point.

The games across are almost identical, excluding controls (the Wii utilizes the Wii-remote) and graphics are different depending on the systems graphics capabilities.

    Naughty Bear

Naughty Bear is a third-person action game with a theme similar to Happy Tree Friends or Conker's Bad Fur Day, where cute, plushy animals act more violently than they usually do - mixing dark humour with over-the-top violence. Players control the eponymous bear to gain as many points as possible by doing naughty things, generally a euphemism for killing other animals and destroying their possessions. The game is set on Perfection Island where teddy bears live happily. Naughty is somewhat of an outsider because of his demeanour and he is the only one not invited to the birthday party of Daddles. He tries to go anyway, crafting a present for the occasion, but his gift is ridiculed by two other bears, Chubby and Giggles, and he sulkily goes back home, plotting for revenge.

The game takes place over the course of seven episodes, further divided into separate missions. Every mission has several quests to be completed, such as killing a specific bear, beating the time limit, collecting gifts, or staying undetected (Naughty Bear can hold a branch with leafs in front of his face to hide). Completing these assignments and killing other bears is rewarded with points, which opens up bridges or gates to go to new areas. That way in-game trophies (bronze, silver, gold) can be gathered, based on the amount of points, to open up new levels and unlock additional costumes, improved abilities, and badges. If the naughtiness goes on uninterruptedly, a multiplier is built up. Each chapter is a separate story slice, showing how Naughty Bear is spied on by birds, or is not invited to a cookery lesson.

Naughty Bear attacks with knives, golf clubs, legs of meat, machetes and guns - infiltrating cabins, running through the woods, and hacking away at everything he encounters. These weapons can be picked up in the levels and there is also the option to set traps and use contextual weapons involving car doors for instance, or sabotaging phone lines and escape vehicles. That way it is also possible to use a more tactical approach: sneaking around, remaining undetected and luring the other bears in your direction by sabotaging their everyday items. Chasing them is sometimes more difficult as they can warn the others or barricade themselves in their houses. Every weapon has a finishing move that can be used when another bear is hurt, shown as a short animation. There are regular bears, but later levels introduce more difficult ninja, zombie, cop, and alien bears. One button is used to hit and tapping it repeatedly forms a combo. Naughty Bear can also dodge, and use a scare attack. By torturing and haunting others repeatedly, bears can even go suicidal and start beating themselves. Most items can be smashed or destroyed by throwing them into a toilet for instance.

Multiplayer is supported with four different modes. Along with basic deathmatch (Assault), there is Cakewalk (hold on to a golden cake as long as possible), Golden Oozy (get control of a powerful gun), and Jelly Wars (collect jellies faster than the opponents).

  37. Rabbids Go Home is the fourth entry in the Raving Rabbids series. Unlike the previous games, which were mini-game compilations. The Rabbids, now living in "our" world, surmise that their home is the Moon. They decide to travel there by the only way they know how: building a large pile of junk so high that they will be able to climb up to the giant orb in the sky. In order to get the junk, the Rabbids travel through various urban environments in a shopping cart, collecting as much random stuff as they possibly can while avoiding an increasingly hostile human populace.

The player controls the shopping cart as the Rabbids move through each level. While holding down A, the cart picks up speed, but at the cost of losing control. When blue sparks appear under the cart, the player can press the B button to perform a boost, which allows the cart to jump over across gaps and other obstacles using ramps, or smash larger items into more grab-able pieces. The player can also yell at enemies, which either destroys them completely or knocks much of their clothes off. The player uses these and other moves to navigate through cities, shopping malls, office buildings, hospitals, and many more environments. The game includes a very eclectic licensed pop soundtrack as well as multiple ways to customize the Rabbids.

  38. Chinatown Wars puts the player in control of Huang Lee, a member of the Triads in the modern Liberty City. After his father's assassination, Huang flies in from China to deliver a ceremonial sword to his uncle Wu "Kenny" Lee to ensure the inheritance of the Triad bosses. However, shortly after his arrival he is jumped, shot, robbed and left for dead, only to survive and vow his vengeance for his father and recover the lost sword to bring honor back to his family.

While being a mission-based game in the vein of the 3D Grand Theft Auto installments, Chinatown Wars returns to use the more traditional top-down while using a new cel-shaded 3D Engine. Many of the features from the more recent GTA games have been included, such as the safehouse, where the protagonist can read e-mails from other characters in the game and store cars and items. There is also a programmable GPS system that helps players find their way in the Liberty City more easily. A replay feature is also present that allows players to replay previous missions by accessing these through their safehouses.

While the protagonist can make money by completing missions, he can also engage in drug trading with numerous dealers scattered throughout Liberty City. There are many drugs to choose from including cocaine, heroin, acid, and weed among others; it is possible to buy them cheap and sell them to other dealers by checking their market value through the PDA. From time to time, an e-mail will be sent to the protagonist that will tip him off of dealers that are either selling drugs at a cheap price or buying them at above average market prices. However, the player must also be aware that buying in bulk will attract the attention of the police after the deal has been done, causing the main character's star level to instantly rise. If the protagonist is caught, he will lose all the drugs that he is carrying.

It is possible to carjack drug vans (which are indicated by a red arrow above them), return them to the safehouse and search them for either drugs or cash. Weapons can be obtained by hijacking Amm-u-nation trucks, but the trucks are heavily-armored and their drivers armed.

Police chases have been changed in this installment. While it still features a star level, there is also an icon that resembles cop cars. While players can still resort to Pay 'n Spray shops to change the look of the car to throw off the authorities, they can also wreck any pursuing police car, crossing out the car icon. If the cop car icons for that level are dropped, their star level will drop as well.

The PSP version adds several new missions, as well as new radio stations. Where the touch screen is used on the DS, the PSP version instead uses the analog stick.

    Justice League Heroes

Military robots cause havoc in a high tech Metropolis research facility. In Finland, genetically-engineered creatures take over the top secret Deep Space Communications Array. A team of super powered criminals, having never worked together before, seize a Nevada missile base. And deep beneath the surface of Mars, dozens of alien warriors are released from their long imprisonment…

These seemingly unrelated events prove to be pieces of a sinister plan, and it will take Earth’s greatest superheroes to stop it: The Justice League!

Justice League Heroes is an action game, also for two players cooperatively, based on the popular DC Comics series. Control DC’s most popular heroes: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, The Flash, Zatanna and a handful of unlockable characters like Aquaman, Green Arrow, Hawkgirl, Huntress, Hal Jordan, and Kyle Rayner. In addition, the PSP version features exclusive unlockable heroes: Supergirl and Black Canary.

Players battle through famous locations such as Metropolis, S.T.A.R. labs, and for the first time, the Justice League's Watchtower.

Many of DC’s greatest villains face against our heroes including Braniac, Killer Frost, Darkseid, and Doomsday. Boss battles are furious and unique, with no two defeated the same way.

Superpowers are developed through experience orbs collected from a wide range of enemies such as The White Martians, Brainiac’s assassin droids, and alternate-dimensional creatures. Some special orbs known as “boosts” can enhance superpowers. The boosts range from enhanced damage, efficiency, attack range, luck, speed, and super power duration. Multiple boosts can combine into a single, more powerful boost. Players can allocate their orbs and boosts to customize heroes to best suit their playing style.

Special shield icons placed throughout the game can be collected and spent to unlock characters and alternate costumes which affect the heroes' abilities as well their appearances.

    Final Fantasy III

In 2006, Final Fantasy III reached North American shores in an official update/remake for the Nintendo DS, finally bringing all of the main Final Fantasy entries to the United States for the first time.

Raised as an orphan by Nina and Elder Topapa in the village of Ur, Luneth, his shy friend Arc, the rebellious Refia and the brave soldier Ingus are chosen as the Four Warriors of Light to send to restore balance to the crystals, and save the world from imminent destruction.

Taking the original game which debuted on the NES, Square-Enix had updated the title with a new cinematic intro, improved graphics and a touch-screen interface to move characters and utilize selection menus. There is also Moogle Mail, a Wi-Fi feature that allows players to send messages to each other via their DS systems. The game has also some revised story elements, detailing the adventures of four friends who find each other, each with new backstories.

Final Fantasy III is a traditional turn-based RPG, which were popular back in the '80s and '90s, but introduced refinements to the genre, such as smarter battle AI. Final Fantasy III is also known for two major milestones in the history of the series: Its introduction of the cheerful Moogles, as well as the introduction of the job system, allowing characters to switch professions throughout the game for new abilities.

  41. Set in the not too distant future, Japan creates the Information Self-Defense Force (I-SDF). The creation of this force is seen as a violation of international law and Japan's constitution, and it causes tensions to rise between Japan, China, and North Korea. In time, North Korea and China set up shipping blockades around Japan, and Japan calls on the United States for help, citing article nine of the Postwar Constitution. Throughout this time, Japan uncovers more and more information that the infamous Black Gold Day was caused by intentional information warfare attacks. As the U.S. prepares to launch the USS Clarence E. Walsh, Third Echelon sends the famous Sam Fisher on a mission that appears to be unrelated to the incident, but which may end up being the most important element of it all.

In Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, players take on the role of field operative Sam Fisher for a third outing. Fisher has some new moves this time around, and he also has a new weapon always at his disposal; a combat knife. Utilizing the knife, Sam can either kill his enemies, or simply knock them out. At the end of each mission, the player is given an overview of how they did. The more people that the player spares, the better the success score.

The single-player game is more open-ended than the past two Splinter Cell games. While players are still forced through some areas in a "tunnel" like fashion, with no choice of where to go, there are many instances where they can decide how they'd like to get there. For example, in the caverns, one can either kill two enemies and cross the bridge, or leave them alone, sneak along the side path, and climb a ladder at the end, bypassing the fight entirely, but still winding up in the same location.

Throughout the game many different locations are visited, such as a lighthouse, a Japanese tea house, Seoul, New York City during an East Coast blackout, and other such exotic locales.

The Spies-vs-Mercs multiplayer mode that appeared in the previous game has returned, with some new features. There are several new, large maps to play on, as well as updated versions from the past game. The PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox versions feature this mode.

    Mega Man Legends 2

Mega Man returns in this, his second 3D outing. The Blue bomber and his teammate, Roll, must journey to a distant island to recover The Mother Lode, an item that no-one really understands, but that they all believe may hold the key to make their dreams come true, and so everyone is after it.

Unlike past Mega Man titles, Legends 2 also adds RPG elements into the mix, allowing players to talk to villagers and the like. Some may help in finding items, others aid the player with important information about The Mother Lode, and other areas on the island.

    Mega Man Legends

In a world covered almost entirely in water, there exist small islands that hide huge treasures. And where there's treasure, you can find treasure hunters called Diggers, who live for the thrill of the hunt...

Barrel Casket was once one of the greatest Diggers, but he has now retired. He now cares for his young granddaughter, Roll, whose parents disappeared while on a dig. He had also discovered a strange baby boy in some ruins one time, who he also took under his care alongside Roll. He named the baby boy Rock Voulnut, and Rock grew up to be an expert Digger, sometimes known by his nickname, MegaMan.

While out exploring one day, Rock, Roll, and Barrel's airship, the Flutter, crash lands on an island named Kattelox. As they explore Kattelox in hopes of fixing their ship, they hear word of a huge treasure, the legendary Mother Lode, that is buried somewhere on the island. Rock, Roll, and Barrel decide to look for the treasure, but at the same time, they're going to get a little competition from a pirate family named the Bonnes...

Mega Man Legends is the first of the Mega Man series to take place in fully explorable 3D, and is paced more like an RPG than the previous stage-to-stage action games. Rock can explore the town and follow the story to find entrances to the underground ruins, where in he will find traps, feral Reaverbots, and large boss robots. Destroying enemies will reward Rock with health, sub-weapon energy, and the power cores of the robots, which people in his world use as currency. By searching through the town and ruins Rock will find items of dubious use and value, and they can be brought back to Roll to be assembled into useful items and upgradable sub-weapons, although not for free. Rock can run while shooting, go into first person mode for aimed shots, and also lock onto an enemy and circle around them to avoid their attacks.
