  12. In this game you are a 10-year-old boy, now old enough to receive your first Pokémon. You train this Pokémon by using it to battle with other Pokémon. Your main objective is to collect 8 gym badges to face the Elite Four and Pokémon League Champion of Kanto. You do this by defeating each gym leader in a Pokémon battle.

There are two parts in gameplay to this game. The first is your main character. You walk from place to place, goes up to talk to people, and find items. The second part of the gameplay happens when another Trainer has seen you, or you come across a wild Pokémon.

In the Pokémon battle, you can select from four options: Attack, Pokémon, Item, and Run. In the attack option, you choose from the Pokémon's attacks to use on the opponents Pokémon. This either drains their HP (lowering a Pokémon's HP to zero will knock them out), inflicts a status condition (like sleeping or poison), or changes stats (attack power, speed, etc). In the Pokémon option you can switch the active Pokémon in battle. In the item option you can either use items on your Pokémon (to heal them), or in a wild Pokémon battle you can throw a Poké Ball to catch them. The run option is only available in battles with wild Pokémon, you cannot run from a Trainer. The battle ends when one Trainer has no remaining Pokémon.

Your rival is always one step ahead of you, and challenging you to battles. You will run into the Rocket Gang, a group of criminals who use Pokémon for evil purposes. You must defeat many of their grunts and their leader in order to foil their evil schemes.

You can also link up to Pocket Monster Akai in order to trade Pokémon or battle with your friends. This is necessary to get all 150 Pokémon, because not all of them appear in Midori.
  13. Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition, along with Pokémon Blue Version and Pokémon Red Version forms the first generation of Pokémon games. You control a number of fictional animals known as Pokémon and must travel the land using your current Pokémon to defeat and capture more.

There are 151 Pokémon that fall into various types such as fire, water and grass that have a complicated rock-paper-scissors relationship. You come across a series of town, each of which contains a gym where you must do battle with other Pokémon trainers. Each gym specializes in a different type of Pokémon. After beating each gym, you are given a new ability that lets you travel to new areas.

The object of the game is to defeat all eight gym leaders, or ultimately, to catch all the varieties of Pokémon. Some of them are not actually catchable in Yellow, so you must use the Game Boy link function to trade with friends using Red and Blue to complete your collection.

Pokémon Amarelo differs from the other first-generation games because it is based on the Pokémon animé series. The main character looks like Ash and he starts the game with Pikachu, rather than choosing a Pokémon as in all other games in the series. Character graphics throughout the game are based on designs from the series and it includes Jesse, James and their Meowth, which the other games do not.
  14. You've finally been granted your Pokémon trainer's license. Now, it's time to head out to become the world's greatest Pokémon trainer. It's going to take all you've got to collect 150 Pokémon in this enormous world. Catch and train monsters like the shockingly-cute Pikachu. Face off against Blastoise's torrential water cannons. Stand strong when facing Pidgeot's stormy Gust. Trade with friends and watch your Pokémon evolve. Important--no single Pokémon can win it all. Can you develop the ultimate Pokémon strategy to defeat the eight GYM Leaders and become the greatest Pokémon Master of all time?
  15. Pokémon Picross is an unreleased puzzle game for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color announced in various game magazines in Spring 1999. A picross, from picture and crossword, is a genre of puzzle games, also known as a nonogram. It was developed by Jupiter Corporation.

The player must complete all of the picross puzzles in each world. Completed levels will be marked with Pokéballs; if the puzzle is finished in a select amount of time, it will be marked with a Master Ball instead. Pikachu appears in the top-left corner of the screen, cheering the player on; along the way, more Pokémon are "captured" and can be selected (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Jigglypuff, and Clefairy). There is also a tutorial mode with easier puzzles, which is guided by Misty.

The game was intended to work with the Game Boy Printer. It also has a Super Game Boy border.

Though Pokémon Picross was never released, the SNES game Picross NP Vol. 1 released in 1999 included 12 Pokémon puzzles.

The international versions of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver featured a game similar to picross at the Goldenrod Game Corner, Voltorb Flip.

Pokémon Picross, a freemium game for the Nintendo 3DS also developed by Jupiter Corporation, was released on the Nintendo eShop in December 2015.
