It took independent developer UsagiRu three years to release Kunio no Nekketsu School Fighters, a homebrew game inspired by the River City Girls beat 'em up series. This unofficial adaptation is a versus fighting game exclusive to the Mega Drive, featuring students from rival schools battling each other to establish their dominance. The game features eleven characters with unique abilities straight out of the River City Girls lore. This fighting game features special moves and a RAGE ART gauge system for more dynamic combat. Players can chain combos and use special moves to create fluid attack sequences, enriching the combat experience.

Kunio no Nekketsu School Fighters is an excellent game, boasting solid mechanics and polished visuals. The training mode is particularly welcome, as it's quite rare in Mega Drive games.
