In Oakvale, Albion, a young boy is sent to buy a birthday present for his sister. On his return, the town is attacked by bandits and his family is killed. Saved by a hero named Maze, he is taken to the Heroes Guild, where he grows up and prepares to embark on his own quest: to fight monsters and uncover who was responsible for his family’s death.
Fable is a third-person action role-playing game where the player controls a hero whose moral choices—good or evil—affect the story, appearance, reputation, and even the environment. The game features main and side quests, combat with melee, ranged, and magic, and a progression system based on three areas: Physical, Skill, and Will.1 point -
Dragon Quest : L'Odyssée du Roi Maudit
Clic972 reacted to RomStation for a game
The court jester Dhoulmagus of the kingdom of Trodain stole a powerful magical scepter sealed beneath the royal castle. Using the power of the scepter, Dhoulmagus destroyed the castle, placed a curse upon the kingdom and its people, and turned King Trode into a troll and the princess into a horse. A sole surviving castle guard journeys with the king, the princess, a reformed bandit named Yangus and a few other companions in search of the evil jester and a way to break the curse.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King is a traditional Japanese-style role-playing game with random enemy encounters, simple turn-based combat mechanics, and management of a party consisting of four characters, each belonging to a clearly defined class. Unlike its predecessors in the series and most Japanese RPGs in general, the game features a continuous world with fairly vast landscapes and integrated towns and dungeons, as opposed to world map traveling and locations represented by icons. The game features full camera rotation and optional first-person view. Like in the previous Dragon Quest games, many objects can be interacted with; for example, barrels can be physically lifted, carried, and broken, to reveal items hidden within.
In addition to experience points, the player receives skill points from battles, which can be manually allocated into a skill category of the player's choice. These categories include three different kinds of weapons, fisticuffs, and a discipline unique to each character. After a required amount of skill points has been invested into a particular category, the correspondent character learns a new ability or becomes more proficient with the chosen weapon. The Alchemy Pot system allows players to gather recipes and mix items to create new ones.
The international version of the game features several updates to the original Japanese version, including voice acting, graphic menu, symphonic soundtracks, and flashier effects.1 point -

Metal Gear Solid
LeMugen reacted to RomStation for a game
Metal Gear Solid is a sequel to Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. After the tragic confrontation with Big Boss, the hero, special agent Solid Snake, decided to retire and has since then lived in a secluded region in Alaska. But the US government recruits him once again for a dangerous mission. The members of Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit, threaten to use a devastating nuclear weapon if the government doesn't hand them the mortal remains of Big Boss, their former commander. Foxhound is now led by a talented, ambitious young man with the codename Liquid Snake. Knowing that the visual resemblance between this new terrorist mastermind and himself can not be coincidental, Solid Snake agrees to infiltrate the new Foxhound base, destroy the unknown nuclear weapon, and find the truth about his own identity.
The gameplay in Metal Gear Solid follows the prototype established in the two earlier Metal Gear games. Solid Snake has a limited arsenal of weapons and cannot allow himself to pave his way to the goal by killing all the enemies. He has to stay unnoticed, hide, crawl, wait for the right moment, sneak, and use various gadgets that will prevent him from alerting the enemy. Boss battles and some other sequences are played out as action-oriented set pieces, with the player having to figure out the weakness of the enemy in order to succeed.
The game utilizes traditional top-down view, but the graphics in this installment are real 3D. Conversations with Snake's allies and cutscenes are used extensively to advance the plot and gain more insight into it.1 point -

In Deadpool, players control Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, a foul-mouthed mercenary. After failing to assassinate a corrupt media mogul, he uncovers a larger plot threatening humanity. With the help of X-Men characters and Cable, Deadpool takes on Mister Sinister and his Marauders. The game features Deadpool breaking the fourth wall, third-person combat mixing guns and katanas, and mechanics like health regeneration and teleportation. While lacking multiplayer, a challenge mode offers wave-based combat for players to test their skills.1 point -
Sgt. J. Keller is a Black Op and he has just failed his operation - badly. He has been incarcerated and is interrogated to reveal his mission and to find out what went wrong. The player goes through Keller's failed operation in eight areas, wasting enemy soldiers and trying to stay alive. There are primary and secondary objectives, such as reaching a rendezvous point and gathering intel.
Black is a traditional first-person shooter with variety of weapons and interactive scenery - interactive meaning destructible in this case. Enemy soldiers can be killed by destroying a nearby fuel tank for example, and weak shelter, like a wooden fence, can be shot to pieces in order to expose the enemy.
The game can be played in four difficulty levels: easy, normal, hard, and black ops. In easy mode, only the primary objective is required. In normal and hard modes, some of the secondary objectives are required. In black ops mode - unlocked after completing the game on hard - all objectives must be reached. New weapons are also unlocked after finishing a level.1 point -

lievin reacted to SanoManjiroo for a game
In Bleach: Soul Resurreccion, players can relive the battles of Ichigo and the Soul Reapers as seen in the Bleach anime. Players have to take out Aizen and his army of Arrancars in horde battles similar to the ones seen in the Dynasty Warriors series.
The game features 14 story chapters to play through and 21 playable characters from the Bleach cast, each having their own special attacks they can perform. Players will defeat their foes by completing combos which can also be powered up when executed with proper timing. Defeated enemies and destroyed objects produce Soul Points which are used to buy character upgrades. Performing lengthy combos will multiply the number of Soul Points earned.1 point -

The Legend of Zelda : Mystery of Solarus DX
Akwakwak91 reacted to Chouster for a game
The Legend of Zelda: Mystery of Solarus DX is set to be a direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES, using the same graphics and game mechanisms. Zelda Mystery of Solarus DX is the first game made with the Solarus engine and in fact, Solarus was primarily designed for this game.
Zelda: Mystery of Solarus DX is actually an enhanced remake of a first creation, Zelda: Mystery of Solarus. This first creation, developed with RPG Maker 2000, was released in 2002 and was only available in French. The DX project was unveiled on April 1st, 2008. Its objectives are to correct the many flaws of its predecessor: the battle system, the bosses, the use of items, etc.
However, that is hardly all of it as new graphical elements and musics will accompany you throughout the game. This Deluxe version will be the opportunity for players to relive the adventure in a brand new way, or to discover it for the first time if you?ve never played it before!1 point -
You have been recruited for Operation Wolf, a desperate attempt to rescue prisoners from the enemy. Through a series of missions, you'll engage a variety of enemies, from soldiers to ninjas, patrol boats to helicopters, and more. Can you carry the day?
Operation Wolf is an arcade game by Taito. It is essentially a bitmapped "rail-shooter", where you basically hold the gun and shoot just about everything that moves, while conserving your ammo and grenades. Shoot ammo/grenades and healing items on the screen to "pick them up". Your primary machine gun can kill everything if you hit it enough times, but you can also use the grenade launcher for really deadly targets like helicopters or armored cars. You can collect a machine gun which will allow you to shoot faster for a few seconds.
You'll be pummelled by a LOT of enemies. Some will be shooting, others will be tossing grenades, knifes, and more. Some are armored and requires more than a few hits, others dodges. You can shoot grenades and knifes out of the air if you aim well enough. There are also civilians running around which can be shot, but it's not beneficial.
Bosses appear at the end of some levels, and each has a specific weakness you need to exploit.1 point -
There exist in the Kingdom of Paprika two main religious groups: the Church of the Holy Maiden and the Church of the Holy Mother. The worshipers of the Holy Maiden follow the Goddess Poitrine and the Maiden of Light, both of whom fight against the Dark Prince. Adherents to the Church of the Holy Mother are more concerned with promoting the dogma of love, justice, and peace.
Prier and Culotte, two siblings orphaned from a young age, join the La Pucelle group within the Church of the Holy Maiden as novice demon hunters. Ultimately, Prier hopes to use her position in the group to become the next Maiden of Light chosen by the Goddess Poitrine.
La Pucelle † Ragnarøk is a remake of the PS2 strategy RPG La Pucelle: Tactics. This version is virtually identical in content, with a few improvements, including a level cap increase to 9999, the ability to do over 10,000 damage, as well as an additional scenario featuring the Demon Lord Prier.1 point -
007 : Demain ne meurt jamais
maxpek reacted to RomStation for a game
In 007: Tomorrow Never Dies, which is based on the movie of the same name, the player takes the role of the famous James Bond who fights against Elliot Carver. Carver tries to increase his TV ratings by creating a war between the British and the Chinese. To achieve his goal he sunk a British ship with his stealth ship and made it look like the Chinese Air Force was the offender. Now it is Bond's responsibility to set things right...
Most of the ten levels are like traditional third-person-shooters where the player walks around the levels while killing numerous foes. While there is an option for a free aim most enemies can be dispatched with the auto-lock function. This means if the player gets close enough to an enemy while using an appropriate gun the game automatically shoots at him when the player faces the general direction. Bond also has gadgets to his disposal which are used to fulfill the mission goals. There are two missions which differ from this formula: in the driving sequence the player chases and shoots at enemy cars while avoiding obstacles; during the skiing part he is mainly concerned with dispatching other skiers which want to bring him out of balance.1 point -
