Thunder Cross II est un shoot'em up horizontal de facture très classique. Le jeu propose de traverser 7 levels assez courts mais bien denses, accumulant modules (jusqu'à 4) et power ups variés (tirs boomerangs, lasers, tirs simples, flammes, etc...) pour détruire les ennemis.
