The Splatterhouse franchise is revived in a new high-definition revamp. It retells the original story of Rick, who wears the Terror Mask to fight demons and save his girlfriend from Dr. Henry West. The game follows a beat-em-up style with horror-themed environments and boss battles. The HD revamp adds depth with multiple attack buttons, combos, and special moves. Players can unlock and master over two dozen combos and special attacks. Blood spilled from enemies acts as currency for purchasing upgrades. Rick's body shows damage and regenerates over time, requiring careful health management. Collectibles like sexy pictures of Jennifer and logbook notes are scattered throughout the stages. The game includes a Survival mode and unlocks the original trilogy. It is a one-player game with custom soundtracks, including heavy metal songs.

Le jeu présente de sérieux problèmes. En difficulté normale, quelques coups suffisent pour mourir, tandis que les ennemis sont de véritables sacs à points de vie. Ils ont également intégré un système de plateformes où il faut sauter pour progresser dans l'histoire. Cependant, le saut est mal conçu et rend l'expérience frustrante. C'est bien beau de mettre des plateformes, mais si le gameplay n'est pas à la hauteur, cela devient injouable.

 

Quant aux graphismes, je m'attendais à mieux. Je me suis cru sur un jeu de la PS2, alors qu'il s'agit d'un titre PS3. Pour une console censée proposer de la HD grâce au Blu-ray, c'est décevant. Ici, on est plus proche de la SD que de la HD. Bref, je ne recommande pas ce jeu, à moins que vous ayez du temps à perdre.
