While it may not meet today's standards of hacking, "Luigi's Mansion 64 Alpha" promises an enjoyable experience.
In a departure from earlier imitations, textures were directly extracted using Dolphin Emulator, albeit with some quality loss upon resizing. The game currently features one custom level crafted in mid-2010, showcasing early attempts at object importing and level creation.
Other levels mainly consist of retextures from the original game, with varying degrees of creativity. One level draws inspiration from Donkey Kong 64, featuring textures directly lifted from the game. Originally intended as an underground cave beneath the star statue in the courtyard, akin to "Under the Well" from the original game, it has evolved into a unique experience.
Features:
- 100 stars
- Expanded Mansion exploration, requiring strategic thinking
- Increased difficulty level with scarce 1-ups
- Some new levels
- Hidden secrets and areas
- New sound effects (SFX) and Music

Things you should know about the alpha version:
- When you enter the Gallery (i.e. the mirror room) don't go through to door you came in from go through the regular door.
- When entering Horror Land with a new game it displays the pop up messege as The Haunted Grave Yard.
- When you get the key in the second Bowser battle you will warp back as if you lost, don't worry about that because you will still have the key and can unlock the door.
- The Cursed castle and King Boo's Aquariaum have no sound as the Music file inserted was large.
- You can not view the credits as Jolly Roger bay was replaced by the title screen.
- Skelux's music fix patch for some magical reason did not work on this so the music will still play when a text box is gone.
