The most original Dragon Ball arcade game is undoubtedly Dragon Ball Z: V.R.V.S. meaning: Dragon Ball: Against Virtual Reality. Created in 1994, this arcade game offers a gameplay never seen before for a Dragon Ball game. It is a fighting game, but in 3rd person view. You see your character from behind and your opponent is facing you. The idea will be used again in Tenkaichi eleven years later. But what makes the gameplay really avant-garde is that it is based on motion capture. Buttons and a pad are present, but it's mostly for dodging or launching big attacks. To throw a punch you have to mime it so that your character actually performs the action. The direct consequence of this innovative gameplay is that the range of available moves is quite limited. Moreover, the difficulty is high and it is not easy to beat the computer. The challenge is therefore more interesting in two player mode. However, even at the time, this terminal was very rare because, as you can imagine, it was very large in order to accommodate the motion capture system. It took up more space than a classic terminal, which did not encourage arcades to invest in Dragon Ball Z: V.R.V.S.
