In Halo 2, Spartan-117, known as the Master Chief, returns to Earth as the Covenant launches a surprise attack on humanity’s homeworld. To uncover the reason behind this assault, he ventures back into space to learn more about the Halo rings. At the same time, a Covenant Elite blamed for the destruction of a Halo is given a second chance as the Arbiter, carrying out dangerous missions amid growing internal conflict.

The game features two playable characters in a first-person shooter that builds on the original Halo, with dual-wielding, new weapons and vehicles, and a greatly expanded multiplayer mode, including support for Xbox Live.
