Catz (also known as Catz 2 in the US) is a single-player action game where the player controls a young cat living on a magical island. The story follows the evil wolf Ivlet, who steals the Magic Hat, causing destruction. The player, with the help of Beat, the good half of the Magic Hat, must repair the damage and help the island's inhabitants.

The game features quests, skills to unlock (like fishing and catching insects), and mini-games to discover. There is no voice acting; characters make cat-like sounds, and text is displayed on-screen.
