The Legend of Heroes is a series of role-playing games developed by Nihon Falcom Corporation.

The first of the series was released in 1989 as Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes, and was part of the Dragon Slayer line of games. It was released for various computer platforms such as the NEC PC-88, the NEC PC-98, the MSX 2, the Sharp X68000, as well as consoles such as the Mega Drive, Super Famicom, and the TurboGrafx-16. The TurboGrafx-16 version would be the only Legend of Heroes title released in North America until the 2004 remake of The Legend of Heroes IV for the PlayStation Portable. The first title was followed by Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes II, released in 1992 for a similar selection of platforms.

The Legend of Heroes I & II Eiyuu Densetsu is a compilation of the first 2 games in the series:
1 - Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes is a role-playing game developed by the Nihon Falcom. It is the sixth game in the Dragon Slayer line of games, and the first in the The Legend of Heroes series.

"Dragon Slayer" tells the story of a young prince named Selios. One day his old teacher Raiyas sends him to a nearby cave to retrieve a magic weapon. When the prince returns, he finds the house attacked by monsters. Raiyas tells him to seek help in the castle of a baron, whose country has always been allies with theirs for a long time. However, the baron betrays Selios' trust and imprisons him. The young prince manages to escape, but without the possibility to return he has no choice but to wander through the land, trying to find trustworthy companions who would help him to save his country.

2 - Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes II is a computer role-playing game developed by Nihon Falcom Corporation. It was first released in 1992 for the NEC PC-8801. Over the next few years, it was also ported to the NEC PC-9801, FM Towns, PC Engine, Sega Mega Drive, Super Famicom and MS-DOS.

It has been some time since Prince Selios, the hero of the original game, has defeated the demon god Agunija. Iseruhasa is at peace. Selios has married Dina and given birth to Atlas. At the age of fifteen Atlas and his teacher Lowel spot strange beings outside of the capital city. Men in spacesuits. Naturally they do not recognize the spacesuits and believe them to be monsters, setting off intrigue.
