London Racer

London Racer (AKA M25 Racer) lets you race around London and Places in Little old cars such as Minis and Cortinas (I Think). This is quite fun, as myself am English and love these Fun little old cars such as Marinas and Allegros (Not in the game, but still), and the chance to runabout in them throughout Places I live was very appealing to me. The cars handle, well borderline. They arent accurate, however they are Reasonable. The graphics are Functional. Some have said it is so 1995, but they actually look a lot like The Italian Job. This is the cars anyway, and they look Good. The backgrounds however are not detailed or varied enough and pale in comparison to more detailed games such as Driver and again, The Italian Job.
The game plays well enough. The cars handling Decent enough (Did I already mention that?), and the tracks are actually OK. Not varied enough though on the long stretch. The National landmarks are all there (Westminster) and sometimes when driving around youll spot a Country pub, which is a nice touch.
Most levels let you drive about against the clock and one really fun one makes you destroy speed cameras. That was very Fun.
At this point youll be thinking: Ok, average enough, its a racing game, its in London, and you drive Decent Nostalgic cars. Im going to get it. Wait! Hold the front page! I havent got onto the Lows yet!
Even though it seems fun, the lifespan is dangerously short, and I completed it after 2 hours on a Friday night, Saturday Afternoon. I just felt a little disappointed as it originally promised so much. Games that will be completed on the day of purchase is just not good enough; It doesnt cut it in this day and age. If anyone has been to London, you will notice that it is normally Chockablock with Traffic jams, and, well, Traffic!
London Racer believes that London is populated by, say Yourself, a few police cars and 2 other cars. The bottom line is it is very under populated, even more so than Die Hard Trilogy 2, and finally, this looks stupid. I really wish London were as empty as London Racer thinks it is, but alas, it isnt.
London Racer is a Fun party game and comes at a knock down price.
However it is over far too soon to be considered as a serious purchase, and that, my friend is its fatal error. If the developers had decided to take their time and iron out the failings, This game would have been worth it. It isnt, and hence the sneaky release. Watch out for its sister, Europe Racer, and expect the same thing.
