Super Mario Galaxy DS is a fan-made project, a demake that recreates the original game, released on the Wii, to fit the Nintendo DS platform.

The project kicked off in 2017 and is still under developement , the first demo was released in 2021, and this version is dated March 2024, offering four levels. This version is a demo showcasing the progress made.

Le projet prend énormément de temps, ils recréent le jeu de A à Z, sans même se baser sur un autre moteur physique (ils auraient pu par exemple utiliser celui de Super Mario 64 DS). Je suppose que c'est pour éviter que le projet se fasse évincer par Nintendo avant qu'il  aille au bout. Nintendo n'apprécie pas que l'on fouilles dans les fichiers de ses jeux et s'opposent farouchement à la décompilation, c'est sûrement aussi pour cette raison que le projet est relativement discret.  Il ne faut pas oublier qu'il s'agit d'une petite équipe, donc le projet prendra encore beaucoup de temps malheureusement.
