What's Shenmue is not a game, but a demo. Why test it then? Simply because like the final game itself, this demo stands out from the competition. This demo does not offer a part of the final game, but is based on the final game to offer a small adventure to discover what Shenmue can give.

Everything takes place in the small town where Ryo lives and which is well known to players who have dreamed about Shenmue. The playground is much less free here, since most of the adjacent streets are closed by people who explain you that you can't pass by... The goal of What's Shenmue is however simple: find the marketing manager of Sega at the time, Hidezaku Yukawa! We start by collecting his business card at the arcade. Unfortunately, it is not possible to play at the terminals, contrary to the final version. On the other hand, we can play darts.

There are other things on the demo, including characters who talk to you, certainly to introduce themselves. The idea was certainly to prove that the faces were very well done and expressive. Currently, this demo is quite hard to find, but remains accessible for those who know how to search. An original object rather intended for the collection.
