Chrono Soldier (Toki no Senshi) is an original Sega arcade game where, unlike classic run-and-gun games, you don't use firearms. Your primary attack is a quick punch that unleashes a short-range energy blast, while limited grenades are your only means of ranged combat. The game takes you through different eras to face a variety of enemies and imposing bosses, ranging from dinosaurs to World War II tanks.
Each level features specific enemies and culminates in a boss fight, but the environments and mechanics quickly become repetitive, limiting variety throughout the game. Power-ups such as shields, increased speed, and time freezing add a touch of strategy. Despite its original concept and fast-paced gameplay, Chrono Soldier remains an obscure and little-known title, never released outside of Japan, and struggles to maintain its popularity over time.
