Sanrio Shanghai is a mahjong solitaire game developed by SAS Sakata and published by Character Soft (under license from Activision) for the Super Famicom in Japan on August 31, 1994.
A spin-off of the Shanghai series, Sanrio Shanghai is a version of mahjong solitaire intended for younger audiences (with its simpler difficulty and large, colorful tiles). It features characters from the world of Sanrio, including Kerokerokeroppi, Hello Kitty, Hangyodon, Osaru no Monkichi, and Sayuri-chan.
Similar to the Shanghai series, players move a cursor around the screen and tap two matching tiles (provided neither of those tiles have tiles in both the left and right of them) on the board to remove them. In addition to standard single-player (with bonus mini-games played between certain rounds), the game includes two two-player multiplayer modes (one of which has each player alternating turns, solving as much of the puzzle as they can within a time limit before switching).
