Mobile Suit Gundam is a run and gun video game developed by CRI and published by Bandai in December 1995 for Saturn. It is a video game adaptation of the series based on the anime Mobile Suit Gundam.

The game is based on the science fiction story of Mobile Suit Gundam (1979), the first anime of the Gundam franchise. Set against a backdrop of war between the Zeon dictatorship and the Earth Federation, the hero, Amuro Ray, is a young civilian living on the space colony Side 7. During a Zeon attack, he finds himself by chance in command of the Gundam (the prototype mobile suit, or giant military robot, at the heart of the series) and joins the Federation.

This is an action-oriented 2D platformer: the player controls the Gundam and must advance to the right by defeating the various enemies that appear both on Earth and in space, through twelve levels. On Earth, the robot can move sideways and jump; in space, it can move freely on the screen. In addition, the screen sometimes advances automatically, or freezes for confrontations against bosses. Several weapons are at his disposal, allowing hand-to-hand or distance combat.
