The town of Caldera is in grave danger. The Fortress of Crystal, the last refuge of the Inquisition, houses a mysterious cave that may protect it from the Titans. Fortunately, two Titans are fighting each other, giving the Inquisition time to coordinate its efforts. However, the Kraken attacks their ships at sea, and pirates prevent supplies from reaching the fortress. The hero is sent on a quest to find a legendary treasure and possibly destroy the Titans.

Risen 2: Dark Waters is an action RPG and a direct sequel to Risen. It features the same main character, now a member of the Inquisition, in a Caribbean-inspired world. The gameplay focuses on exploration, action-oriented combat, and questing. Players explore several islands, receive main and side quests, and can choose to accept or decline quests. The game introduces verbal skills like Silver Tongue and Intimidation and features a revamped magic system centered on voodoo magic. Combat now includes firearms with a cooldown period between shots, and AI-controlled characters can assist the hero in battles.
