Dead Rising 2 is a video game that takes place several years after the original Dead Rising game. The zombie virus has spread beyond Willamette and the player controls Chuck Greene, who needs to get his daughter Zombrex, a drug that delays zombification, every 24 hours. Chuck enters a game show where he has to slay the undead for money to get more Zombrex. But, some zombies escape and the city becomes infected, with Chuck being accused of causing the outbreak.

The player has 72 hours to complete the main story and save survivors, but can also ignore the main story and explore the city. The game features a sandbox-like environment and the player can level up and build custom weapons to fight zombies.
