What's Cooking? Jamie Oliver is an interactive cookbook and food preparation video game.
Recipes show preparation time, ingredients and dishes, they can be sorted by several different criteria, after opening a recipe, a list of ingredients is presented, items on the list can be marked and added to an actual shopping list.

- A timer option is also available, which counts down from a specific time and makes an audible sound when it's done.
- Before starting to cook in-game, a virtual representation of each step of the recipe is displayed on the screen for the player to complete as a tutorial.
- The Nintendo DS touch screen and stylus are used to perform tasks such as beating eggs, pouring sauces and chopping vegetables.
- Several tutorials are also available to teach the player how to perform simple cooking tasks.
- While cooking, the Nintendo DS responds to audio commands, such as saying "next" into the device's microphone to move on to the next step in the recipe.
- 100 recipes are included in the game, and players can create their own dishes in the game and then share them with others via Wi-Fi.
- In addition to the culinary aspects of the game, What's Cooking? Jamie Oliver features challenges in which the player uses the stylus to chop, stir and serve as quickly as possible.
