Gambys

Another bit of history, actually lost, is now with us again! Gambys- a simple children's game, but it was her honor to become the first computer game officially released on PC in Portugal. A group of enthusiasts from the Spectrum ventured on this enterprise as far back as 1992, and after a series of twists and turns - after they failed to reach an agreement with major Western publishers - the game was released in small numbers in their native Portugal and Spain to be almost immediately forgotten. Nevertheless, it is worth paying attention to lovers of the golden era of DOS-games of the mid-90s. First of all, it is an excellent technical performance: VESA-modes with support for 65536 colors (hi color), full-fledged rendered videos and digital music — not every large company of that time could boast of such. The second thing that immediately pleases the eye is, of course, the wonderful graphics, where illustrator Luis Peresh tried.

The control takes place with the help of the mouse - with one button you can pick up and lay out elements of the picture, another you can control the gambi and move bonuses (the assignment of the buttons can be swapped in the settings). Gambi can be ordered to move in a certain direction (for example, away from evil demons), but, as a rule, they move randomly. All other creatures and bonuses also randomly move. Sometimes they can meet on their own - then there are battles with demons, or the wizard can create a potions bonus himself, but this is not often, so it’s better to help the Gumbi and try to neutralize the demons with the help of bonuses. There are two types of bonuses in the form of various pies, fruits, berries and the like - useful and poisonous, and one can only be distinguished from the others by trial and error. But if someone died - not scary, they will soon reappear from special colored eggs. At each level, a certain set of gambi and demons - and the player can only neutralize one of the enemies for a while, but there will be no helpers at all.
