Just like Capcom's Warriors of Fate, Knights of Valor is inspired by the History of the Three Kingdoms. Knights of Valor offers up to four players the opportunity to choose between five characters with varying characteristics. The progression is done, as in a classic beat them all, from left to right, as well as in depth. In addition, the player is sometimes offered to choose between different branches, some of which are camouflaged and lead to secret rooms. Four buttons in addition to the joystick are used: two for the classic hits and jumps, and two others dedicated to inventory management. It is in fact possible to pick up and store various objects, such as projectiles or bombs. Each character not only has special moves, but also furies operating on a system similar to Advanced mode from The King of Fighters '97. Finally, like Knights of the Round, the score also serves as an experience point counter, allowing characters to see some of their skills (resistance, strength, etc.) improved during the game.
