RomStation Rebase — A tool to send your RomStation ROMs to RetroArch and more

Révélation

I rewrote this first post so that it stays valid from one version to the next. What is new in each version is announced further down the thread.

Hi everyone!

Let me introduce RomStation Rebase, an Open Source tool (C#) that I develop and publish on GitHub.

The idea came from wanting an easier way to move the games downloaded by RomStation to my Anbernic handhelds and to systems like RetroArch or EmulationStation. At first I planned a simple PowerShell script, and I ended up writing a real tool that relies on RomStation's own data. RomStation therefore has to be installed for the tool to work.

In practice: you check your games, pick your SD card or a folder, pick your device or frontend, and RomStation Rebase copies the games, stored and named the way the target expects them, with their covers and information.

Good to know:

  • RomStation Rebase always works on copies, your RomStation installation is never modified
  • Saves made in RomStation are not transferred
  • You need Windows 10 or 11, and RomStation installed and launched at least once

The documentation (wiki, in English and French): https://github.com/Letalys/RomStationRebase/wiki/Home-English

If you try it, your feedback is welcome, here or on GitHub. I hope it serves you well!

Have fun!

Hi everyone!

Version 1.3.0 of RomStation Rebase is out, and it is far more complete than the previous ones. 😁

What's new:

  • Support for several Architectures (dArkOS, RetroArch, EmulationStation...)
  • Configuration editor (until now you had to create/edit JSON files by hand)
  • Conversion by external tools: games can be converted during the copy, for example a Dreamcast game to CHD with chdman, or GameCube to RVZ with DolphinTool.
  • Presets: your checked games and all your settings are saved in a RSRGP file, reopened with a double-click. Handy to rebuild an SD card exactly the same way.

And also : a detailed log of every copy, and error codes explained in the documentation.

I tested this version on my Anbernic RG353V running dArkOS. For the other devices I relied as best I could on each system's documentation, so if you have another device, your feedback matters a lot to me (dedicated section on GitHub)!

Note: if you already filled a card with an older version, some games get a new name (multi-disc games, arcade) and will be copied again.

The documentation, entirely rewritten, in English and French: https://github.com/Letalys/RomStationRebase/wiki/Home-English

If you already have a version installed, the MSI takes care of the update.

Have fun!
