Bien que Dragon Ball ait engendré Dragon Ball Z, la saga originelle a eu droit à beaucoup moins d'égards que la période Zeto. Si on excepte la plupart des RPG qui n'ont jamais atteint nos côtes et qu'on reprend tout ce qui s'est fait autour de la série ces quelques dernières années, le constat est encore plus flagrant : Dragon Ball Z fait vendre et a depuis longtemps supplanté le matériau de base qui semble un peu avoir été oublié. Heureusement, un jeu GBA vient réparer cette injustice.

Dragon Ball : Advanced Adventure s'attarde en effet sur l'ensemble de Dragon Ball, puisque le jeu débute alors que Bulma rencontre Goku et se termine lors du combat entre ce dernier et Piccolo. On se demande pourquoi la période Petit Cœur est passée à la trappe, mais hormis ce petit oubli, la très grande force de ce jeu tient en un immense respect de l'œuvre de Toriyama. Des rencontres importantes du manga aux lieux visités, en passant par la gestuelle des personnages, cette production respire la Fan-attitude qui transparaissait déjà dans les Budokai sur consoles de salon. A ce titre, on ne s'étonnera donc pas de trouver au générique la société Dimps qui a su rendre à DBZ ses lettres de noblesse.
